36 hours to taste San Diego

The sun, the sea and some excellent tacos.

A map, good shoes, a bit of a plan with room for improvisations and your camera is what you need to go explore a new place. I had thirty-six hours of free time to walk the streets of San Diego, and I ended walking almost twenty kilometers. I have to say that the weather helped lot; compared to Canada in January, no need for a big coat, heavy shoes for the snow, forget the scarf and your toque; just bring a bottle of water and a few cereal bars. San Diego seems to be a quite friendly city, more relaxed than San Francisco or Los Angeles, the access to Nature seems easy. The huge Balboa Park in the middle of the city really helps to escape the urban life: lots of greens, a giant zoo, tons of museums, beautiful Spanish architecture give you a good way to start the day. San Diego is definitely a North American city with its tall downtown buildings and its highways, but the proximity to the sea really shapes the mood and the atmosphere. One of my main surprises was the quality of the food; the few places that I had the chance to try served delicious, quite healthy, and non-expensive meals. The Mexican influence is strong and I think I had the best tacos of my life in the unique restaurant called Lucha Libre: a crazy pink design restaurant  made of Mexican wrestlers graphics. In the end, coming from the cold January winter, it was surely a delightful destination, but its light atmosphere and relaxed way of life convinced me to stop there again if I have the opportunity.

If you have to go there for a short period of time, I recommend this article from the New York Times to get some inspiration: NYT Article.

  • Welcome

Hello dear visitor, welcome to my photography world. I am a radio frequency engineer who moved from France to experience a new life in Canada. Living far from my friends and family, traveling for fun and for work I created this blog and website to share a bit of my life with them and everyone else interested in photography. I grew up in front of the Atlantic Ocean in the south of the beautiful region of Brittany. As a passionate photographer, I try to catch the best of each moment from the life in the streets to the changing colors of nature. Photography has almost always been part of my life and helps me to understand and remember the beauty of our world. I hope you’ll enjoy your time spent here.
