First roll of JCH Street Pan

A strong black and white

Continuing my exploration of analog photography, I decided to try the black and white film JCH Street Pan 400 from the website Japan Camera Hunter. This website is designed and managed by Bellamy Hunt and is a great source of information about film photography in general. Being more satisfied with my analog black and white pictures than my color ones, I decided to stick to that and try this black and white film. I used it in a Nikon F100 with a Sigma 35mm Art and took it with me in different situations like visiting museums, meeting with friends and also to photograph my cat (my best model).

JCH-400

I did set the camera at 400 iso and I have to to admit that I am very pleased with the results. I like contrasty pictures and this what you get with that film, I just scanned the negatives and did not have to adjust anything in Lightroom. There is a very nice dynamic and the highlights are handled very well. The grain is not to strong and quite nice. I like how the grey tones describe the light and I will definitely get more of that film for my back and white film adventure. For more info about it, there is an interesting article on casualphotophile.com.

  • Welcome

Hello dear visitor, welcome to my photography world. I am a radio frequency engineer who moved from France to experience a new life in Canada. Living far from my friends and family, traveling for fun and for work I created this blog and website to share a bit of my life with them and everyone else interested in photography. I grew up in front of the Atlantic Ocean in the south of the beautiful region of Brittany. As a passionate photographer, I try to catch the best of each moment from the life in the streets to the changing colors of nature. Photography has almost always been part of my life and helps me to understand and remember the beauty of our world. I hope you’ll enjoy your time spent here.
